  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm milk, water, and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine granulated sugar, salt, softened butter, eggs, cocoa powder, red food coloring, and vanilla extract into the yeast mixture; mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth; place in an oiled bowl and let rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare filling by mixing softened butter with brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly on top.
  7. Roll tightly into a log shape and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place rolls on a lined baking sheet and bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, make frosting by beating cream cheese and butter together; gradually add powdered sugar until smooth; mix in vanilla extract and salt.
  10. Frost warm rolls before serving.
