  • 5 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches with 1 cup of granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, remaining 1 cup of granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Pour melted butter into a 9×13 inch baking dish; add vanilla extract and milk to the dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
  5. Pour batter over butter without mixing; spoon peach mixture on top.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving warm.
